Air Source Heat Pumps

Renewable heating and cooling from the air

commercial air source heat pumps.jpg-620-150

An air source heat pump extracts heat from the air, even when the temperature is as low as -20oC.  In the UK average winter temperatures are around 5oC.
Compared to a ground source heat pump, an air source heat pump benefits from lower installation costs.  Some models of air source heat pump also operate in reverse mode to provide active cooling.  Simultaneous heating and cooling is also possible.  Geowarmth offer air source heat pumps from leading European manufacturers such as Delonghi, Dimplex and Mitsubishi.  Modular capability and seqeuncing controllers allow flexibility for the largest scale of installation.  Larger three phase models incorporate twin or quadruple compressors for multiple stages of power.
Commercial applications include care homes, schools, offices, hospitals, community and public buildings.  Non domestic installations of heat pumps normally require planning permission.
Air source heat pumps are usually positioned externally; they can be installed internally with ducting to an outside wall.  Noise levels are low; typically around 50bD(A) at 1m; acoustic hoods can be specified to reduce this further. Bespoke security cages are also available.
Typical controller features include weather compensation, automatic defrost, bivalent control for alternative heat sources and control of multiple heating circuits.
Geowarth have installed air source heat pumps in a variety of commercial applications.  For examples of our work please refer to our air source heat pump case studies.
