Biomass pellet boiler and a new radiator system for Northumberland house

Solarfocus pump_stations_and_dhw_cylinderexternal pellet_silo2Geowarmth have installed a Solarfocus 35kW pellet boiler in a rural property in Northumberland.  This domestic dwelling did not previously have a wet heating distribution system.  Geowarmth installed new radiators throughout to be heated by the new biomass boiler.  The boiler is situated in an out house and the pellets are stored in an adjacent silo and are automatically fed in to the boiler using a multi head suction hose system.  Domestic hot water is also provided by the biomass pellet boiler via a cylinder installed within the property.   The control system includes two heating circuits to allow independent operation of the heating on the ground and first floors of this Northumberland property. Large savings in running costs are being achieved compared with the previous electric heating system and because both Geowarmth and the boiler are MCS accredited the property owner benefits from cash back payments under the domestic Renewable Heat Incentive.

The remote location of the property between Morpeth and Rothbury meant that to replace an electric heating system with a wet heating distribution system the most economical heat sources were going to be either biomass wood heating or a heat pump.  Geowarmth reviewed both alternatives with the client before recommending the biomass system.
