Geowarmth publish study of thermal response test results
In the largest published study undertaken of UK thermal response tests, the results of 61 thermal response tests have been analysed and compared, providing an overview of the varying levels of conductivity found during the in situ tests.
Geowarmth are the joint author of the technical paper in the Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology published by the Geological Society of London. In the study we found that the values of thermal conductivity yielded a median of 2.25 W m K−1, with 25th and 75th percentiles of 1.86 and 3.0 W m K−1.
Geowarmth are one of the largest providers of thermal reponse tests in the UK using our own rig which benefits from both on board lpg boilers as well as electrical resistance heaters to provide a variaety of appropriate heat inputs for the boreholes being tested. To find out more about our service see our thermal response test page.
